Bathed in the sun of the southern Mediterranean, between Sicily and Libya, the little archipelago of Malta has a history as significant as its location. Conquerors and liberators have been passing through the islands since the Stone Age-there are more archaeological sites than beaches.
By any standard, the Republic of Malta is a very small country. The main island is less than a hundredth the size of neighbouring Sicily; The second principal ingredient of Malta’s archipelago is Gozo, covering an area a bit bigger than Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Gozo, more fertile than Malta, is less populated and less frequented by tourists, with a character very much its own. The only other (barely) inhabited island, tiny Comino is mostly glimpsed from the deck of the ferry that links Malta and Gozo. The population is close to 375,000 people, most of whom can speak good English. |

Gozo has a distinct character all of its own. The countryside is prettier than that of its larger neighbour, the pace is slower and there are far fewer tourists. The island has its share of medieval architecture and prehistoric temples, making it a great place to escape the tourism mill while experiencing the best of what Malta has to offer. The commercial centre of the island, Victoria, has a sleepy 17th-century feel. The view from atop the Citadel, or ’Gran Costello’, takes in the entire island. The Ggantija temple complex, also near Xaghra, is the most spectacular in Malta.

This is a small, family run English Language School for adults situated in Gozo, a sister island of Malta. It is ideally located in the countrside, 5 minutes away from the nearest village Kercem and 20 minutes to the capital, Victoria. Gozo is less than half an hour away from the mainland, Malta. It is easily accessible by air or by sea. Gozo is in a world of its own, rich in culture and environmental heritage. It is also an ideal place to have a break from the hectic world of today and achieve your language training objectives. |
