New Zealand is comprised of two main islands, the North Island in the north, and (strangely enough) the South Island in the south. There are also many many other islands dotted around, the largest being Stewart Island, at the very southern tip of the South Island. Roughly 73 percent of New Zealand’s population, of approximately are of European descent. A further 11-12 percent belong to the Maori people, a pacific island group who arrived in New Zealand around 1200 AD. New Zealand is a tourist mecca. From blue lakes and golden beaches, to huge mountains and beautiful native forests. From tall buildings in Auckland City, to the quiet open fields of the Canterbury Plains and the rolling, tussock-covered hills of Central Otago. New Zealand really has it all. In every corner of the country there are top attractions, from thrill-seeking rides, to peaceful bush walks and scenic views. |

Located on the east coast of the South Island, Christchurch - just like the rest of New Zealand - is a city of contrasts.
It is a place where its residents continue to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle amidst a natural environment world-renowned for its beauty. A growing cosmopolitan ambience also adds a touch of excitement without overt flashiness. Internationally famed ‘The Garden City’, Christchurch’s well-established expansive parks and public gardens owe much to the planning and foresight of the city’s founding fathers. A journey north reveals green rolling hills, forests and long, empty beaches, with the whale-watching centre of Kaikoura about 2 hours’ drive away, whilst an excursion to the south passes through farmland and crosses two more of Canterbury’s pristine rivers, ideal for fishing in, whitewater rafting or kayaking down. Clearly visitors are spoilt for choice and residents have a superb outdoor lifestyle at their doorsteps.
